NO SPACE, NO PROBLEM
Despite having a small backyard, the owners of this property dreamed of a swimming pool to enjoy with their four children. A glimmer of hope resided in the unused space to the side of the home. Together, Steve Taylor of COS design and Laguna Pools started to turn the owners dream into reality.
Even though the space was very limiting, the brief was to create a sizeable family pool with a large entertaining alfresco. The decision was made to utilise the narrow sideway as the main body of the pool and the spa and entry to incorporate the open zone of the alfresco area.
The gap between the home and the boundary was a mere 1700mm, so Laguna Pools was faced with some logistical and structural challenges for the design and construction of the pool. In particular the house footings were located next to the proposed pool location so careful consideration and allowances were required to ensure the pool was installed safely and with the structural integrity of the house highest priority.
The clients busy lifestyle demanded the pool be low maintenance and easy to operate. A fully automated Connect 10 control system was installed which allows for in home touch panel and ipad, iphone connectivity, allowing total control of the pool and spa for the user. Also installed, a Paramount In floor cleaning system and an automatic chemical dosing chlorinator which makes day to day maintenance and usage as user friendly as possible.
The visual appeal of this pool was made possible with many small, clever design elements, a feature of all COS Designs. The use of lighting and industrial, urban materials creates a stylish backdrop to the living space of the home. The pool and spa itself fit seamlessly into the layout of the backyard and provide function, but also a stunning visual feature.
