In the prominent Donvale “millionaires row” this architectural home was undergoing an outdoor makeover with the addition of an extensive pool and games house and a swimming pool and spa that would blow the entertaining guests away!
The project has many features, combining a technically advanced and high quality pool that pushes the boundaries from a construction viewpoint. The block is interesting and oddly shaped, a tennis court tucked away in the far corner of the L shaped property, considered planning was critical in plotting the large scale pool footprint so to integrate the pool house and the existing home. A luxury home with entertaining requirements is a priority, the combination of house, alfresco, BBQ area, pool and tennis court was an imperative that could not be overlooked. The natural slope of the block destined the pool to be out of ground for half of the 25 m lap pool section, clad with stone, gives a stunning architectural element to the project. Due to its size and shape, engineering required an expansion, water stop joint through the middle of the lap pool and bored piers were out of the ground. With all the other details of the pool, this added to the execution and structural complexities to the formwork and spray.
Dark charcoal tiles through the pool provide beautiful shadowing in shade and a sparkling green water color in full sun. Bisazza Glass tiled curved and rolled wet edge and a swim up bar with stainless stools take entertainment to another level. It is visually amazing within the natural bush setting and amalgamates the high end home and newly appointed outdoor space.
Pool functionality was also in high demand, a huge volume of water demanded a hydraulic solution with plenty of know how. Dual gas heaters, balance tank for wet edge, and an abundance of pipework, layout and setup were critical in delivering this project. Tight space, plenty of trades and a strict deadline made this pool a wondrous achievement.
